Monitor goes in sleep mode on startup (Vista ultima 64 bit)

I have had Vista for a long time. Recently I install some updates and the new
Nvidia graphic driver 175.16 for Geforce 8800 GT. After when I boo the
monitor goes in sleep mode during start up. Everything is working in the
background but I have a black screen. Tried to go back to the previous
graphic driver but the problem was the same. When I uninstall the graphic
driver (in safe mode) the computer boots normally. I have never had these
problems and I guess it is related to some Vista updates.
I have reinstalled Vista and updated it (so no other installed
appliactions), and the problem is the same. Installed graphic driver =
monitor in sleep mode.

Do you have any suggestions .. some power management or something.

I have a Gigabyte nforce 650i motherboard with newest bios and drivers
(which are quite old actually

Boot into Safe Mode and lower the screen resolution as low as it will go.
Restart the system and slowly and carefully, one step at a time, raise
resolution until it's where you want it to be or the screen blacks out
again. If the screen blacks out just wait and it will come back.
