Monitor does not awake on activity

My installation: RC1 Vista with ATI Radeon X1600 pro & ATI beta drivers.

Monitor is set to turn off aftersay 30 minutes of inactivity. It will turn
off, but won't come back on. On reboot I get the option to go up in safe
mode since last shutdown was not normal.

If I set monitor turn off to say 2 minutes, wait for it & about 5 seconds
aftert shut off go on ctl-alt-del, it comes back on withthe message "display
driver R300 stopped responding and has recovered succcessfully."

ATI tech support does not support beta version, but technician was nice
enough to say she had no idea what caused it & R300 is a group of chipsets,
which is not used in the Radeon X1600.

Does anybody encounter similar problems or have any ideas/suggestions?

I encounted the same thing on my X1900 with the latest ATI drivers on Vista
RTM, I had to enter my password and hit enter to login (all while the
monitor was asleep), after logging in the system would wake the monitor up.

Rolled back to the in-box drivers.

Thxs or your reply. So. I'm not the only one. I guess I'll rerturn to
previus drivers too.

With Vista to be released to corporate customers within two days, I'm
appalled about the complete lack of suppport for it by many major vendors.
Hopefully that will improve betwen now & January.

Thxs again, Peter KStart > Run that there is no Run command in Vista.
