monitor brightness

The color on my monitor is too dark. I am not able to see many web
sites, etc. I used to be able to reset the brightness from the control
panel, but now I have XP home edition, version 2002, service pack 2, and the
route that I knew to take to adjust my monitor no longer exists.
The buttons on the monitor itself do not aleviate this problem. I have
to be able to go into the computer to make the adjustments.

Hi Jim,

If you cannot adjust the monitor any brighter from the monitor's controls,
then make sure you have your video card's latest drivers from the mfg, and
there you " should" be able to find a brightness or gamma control to adjust.

Sounds like your monitor may be dying. Try this:
right click desktop, properties, settings, advanced. There may be some color
/ brightness controls in there.
