I have a computer that is failing when it tries to compile a MOF or MFL
file. This all really started when I was install SQL 2005 Express SP2 on a
computer and I get an error that, "SQL Server Setup Failed to compile the
Manged Object Format (MOF) file C:\.......\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof "
I did some searching on the Internet and I found that this could be related
to WMI, and you could see behind this message box on the computer that it
was trying to install WMI features. I have a BAT file I got from a MVP site
that resets the WMI system. It has always worked for SQL 2005 Express WMI
installer issues; however this time when it was running I noticed this error
when it was compiling a file:
(1): error SYNTAX 0X8004402f: Error creating the temporary file
I check and the computer has over 50 GB free, so I am not sure what is
happening or where it is trying to create the temporary file. I couldn't
find that error when I researched MOFCOMP.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
