Modem Issue

I have recently installed Windows 2000 on my HP Pavilion which
previously ran Me. It came with a Lucent Win Modem. I was able to find
what I think is to be the correct driver, that is, Windows 2k finally
found the modem and I can use it. However, it seems that I cannot
connect any faster than 26.4 kbps, whereas under Me, I could always
connect at a faster rate. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to why
this is?

Perhaps the answer lies in the
"what I think is to be the correct driver"
is not actually the correct driver?
