modem driver and connection wizard

Must uninstall/restart computer after every internet
session otherwise I am unable to establish subsequent
modem connection. Have chaged PCI? ports etc. Manufacturer
had me reload Windows (not from restore disk). Now I am
unable to configure a manula modem connectioin from
Connection Wizard. If I select manual configuration, the
next page only highlights broadband connection, "connect
using modem" is subdued.
