mobile email notification

Am running Outlook 2003 on Windows XP Pro. I am receiving sms text messages
on my Nextel mobile telephone each time an incoming e-mail is received. How
do I turn the mobile e-mail notifications off?

Any help would be appreciated.

Or is it possible that you have an option with your ISP to notify you
when a message is received. (I have this option enabled with my ISP).

Hi Diane,

Thank you for your response. In Outlook 2003 under Tools, Options,
Preferences, E-mail Options, Advanced E-mail Opyions, Desktop Alert Settings,
I found where to disable desktop Alerts however there seems to be no place in
Outlook 2003 to enable or disable aletts to a mobile telephone? I had one
rule for one sender to send a sound when an e-mail from that sender was
received. It did not work as I have M/S powerpoint installed on the same PC
so I deleted that rule and now have no rules enabled. I also checked to see
if I had an add-in loaded but found none.

My ISP is MSN. It runs thru bellsouth.net as I am using their ASDL Service.
The mobile sms messages are sent to my Nextel mobile telephone even when
Outlook 2003 is closed? I have a wireless DL-624 Router in place. Guess I am
confused. How can Outlook 2003 send a mobile e-mail notification even when
the application is closed?

Pat,

Thanks for your e-mail and time. Same for Pat, the other person who responded.

Apparently over this last week-end (when all the e-mail notifications
started showing-up on my Nextel cell telephone) a software update or a change
authored by someone else took place to cause the e-mail notifications.

I found that MSN Mobile had an account in my name and my Nextel tele # had
been entered to receive e-mail notifications from Hotmail. I deleted my tele
number and the notifications ceased!

Thanks again,

Stan
