Mobile Bartons: any perf enhancements over regular Bartons?

I'm just curious if the Mobile Barton is in any way better than the
regular Bartons (aside from power/heat considerations).

I believe the mobile chips may still be sold unlocked, but that's about
all. Only of any interest (along with the lower operating power) if you
plan to over clock.

The AthlonXP-M Barton chips have slightly different specifications
from their desktop counterparts, though whether they are faster or
slower depends on the specific app you run.

The desktop Barton chips all use 333 or 400MT/s bus speeds, while the
mobile Barton chips are use 266MT/s bus speeds. On the flip side, the
mobile chips run at slightly higher clock speeds. For example, a
desktop AthlonXP 2500+ runs at 1.83GHz with a 333MT/s bus speed. The
mobile AthlonXP-M 2500+ runs at 1.86GHz with a 266MT/s bus speed.

In all the performance difference between the two won't amount to
much, some apps might be a tiny bit faster on one chip, other apps a
tiny bit faster on the other. On average I would probably give the
nod to the desktop chip as being the faster part, though you aren't
likely to notice the difference.
