mmc.exe error when opening Device Manager in Vista

Just trying to find a few things to try to get past this mmc.exe error in
Vista Home Premium. Can't seem to get the Device Manager to open, and I get
this message window about the Microsoft Management Console not working after
the attempt to open Device Manager fails. Running a HP Slimline Pavillion
s7700n model.

I ended up doing a full backup and System Recovery to factory settings after
discovering that this error affected alot of other applications on my system
including the software recovery tool... be careful when selecting USB
adapters that aren't designed for Vista LOL>
