mm2 freeze

my problem is a little different, my mm2 freezes i.e.
stops reponding very frequently in the middle of an
operation like adding an effect or anything that requires
a little processing. i have to alt-ctrl-delete to get the
computer responding, i've tried waiting but then the
computer totally hangs and i have to reset. i have 512 mb
of ddr ram, 2.4 ghz and a radeon 9600

Did you try the hardware acceleration change?

How many of the problem codecs did you find on your computer? If more than
one you need to rename them all, not doing one at a time.
