mm crashes

i import clips and then drag and drop them into the 'frames' or the timeline.
after 3 or 4 clips have been added, mm crashes and sends an error report. The
advice from MS is that it could be my c-media drivers, however I have the
most up to date drivers available.

anyone encounter such problems? is there a fix?
