mixing int./ext. dns

preface: yes i know this is not recommended..BUT....i need for external
(internet) users to be able to resolve using my internal dns server. i
currenlty have an AD-integrated zone (mycompany.com is the AD domain name as
well as the registered domain name). do i need to create another (possibly
non-integr. zone/std primary zone) zone that users can resolve with, or do I
have to add the hosts i want made public as static entries in my AD
integrated zone?

One zone can be created only once (whether AD integrated
or not), and not twice.
so if mycompany.com is the AD zone and the hosts
are to be all xyz.mycompany.com then you have to
add the hosts in the existing AD zone mycompany.com

Why?

Not a good idea but still doesn't explain the above.

: do i need to create another (possibly

If you want public users to have access to your private network, you use
VPN.

Are you saying you want to create a record such as a "www" record in your
zone? No problem...that's usually the answer to a split-horizon zone (where
your internal and external names are the same).

Otherwise, please elaborate...
