missing TCP/IP info

The OS is windows xp home operating system. The reason I
think TCP/IP is missing is due to the fact that when you
right click on the local area connection in network
connections and go to properties the file called Internet
protocol (TCP/IP) is missing. I am very new to this whole
computer thing. But the reason I found this file missing
is I'm unable to call up a web site on the internet. And
after making many many phone call this is what they "the
computer gurus" came up with, which is that I'm missing
Internet protocol (TCP/IP). Do you know of any way to
reinstall it.
Thanks,
Mitzi

Hi Mitzi...
go to START > Control Panel > Network Connections > "your dial up
connection" > right click on the highlighted dial up connection > select
properties > select the Networking tab > look for Internet Protocol
(TCP/IP). This should be listed and have a check mark in the box.
If it is listed and NO check mark, click in the little box to check it.
If it is NOT listed, click on Install and follow the directions for
installing this PROTOCOL....good luck..mgm
