This may be due to XP hiding sys tray icons from you that you don't click
on. If you click the little button that looks like an arrow next to the sys
tray, it will temporarily show them all to you.

If you would like to undo this behavior, right click on the button next to
the Sys Tray and choose Properties. Down in the Notification Area, uncheck
Hide inactive icons. Then press Apply or OK and from now on they should all
show again.

Hope that helps.

No that is not the prob, I know about the hide function and thats not the problem
The prob is that when my XP starts some of the programs that should be in the tray are not there and some times they are there is no consistancy to the startup sequence and I believe that there should be but I don't know how XP controls the startup sequence
Is it possible that I have corrupt files and if so how do I repair them
thanks Terry
