Thank you for the reply. I am not familiar with this
command. What does it do and will it affect my service
pack 2 installation?
It shouldn't do.
Basically all system files are digital signed by Microsoft, if something
modifies them or removes them, it obviously breaks the signature, this tool
scans for that.
Any it finds broken will be replaced by the "cache" of system files that
Windows makes (c:\windows\system32\dllcache) so this will be whatever your
system is current, SP2 files should be mirrored as a backup here too.
I started the process, but cancelled it. It seems to need
to do a very time consuming system scan. Is there no way
to just find the fonts online somewhere and install them?
This would probably take just a few minutes.
I'm having a hunt over my Windows CD at the moment to see if I can just find
the location, you should be able to simply copy them out of the location I
mentioned above (just be very careful don't modify anything), I've had a
quick look in there and it just seems to store the basic system fonts there,
so you may need your CD anyway. If you change your view setting for that
folder so it lists them under their type it will be easier to find them.
