Missing System files

I've just fond out that autoexec.nt is missing from my system. How do i fixit
nd how do I find out if other windows files are missing?
Programs are not properly uninstalled .When I unistall a program, some
files(.dll, etc.. all of them it seems) are still left in the program files
folder. Also they seem to left in the startup folder Could both be related
and coud it be why my pc won't install Ati multimedia center?

insert winxp disk into drive



go to start- run- type cmd enter at the promt type: expand
d:\i386\autoexec.nt_ c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt
if your drive is not d: just change this to whatever yours is
