Missing "System Explorers" under Advanced Tools

R

Randy Knobloch

I have a poster elsewhere that cannot enable System Explorers in
Advanced Tools. The 'header' displays but nothing is visible.
Poster has attempted a repair and re-install, with no joy.

Any suggestions?

TIA.

This is the current fix for the issue, direct from Microsoft (and with
attests here that it works!)
-------------------------
We believe we have a workaround which is better than installing the VB6 SP.
Can we have users who experience this problem try the following:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without the quotes).
3) Close and re-open Windows AntiSpyware

Please let me know if this is working.

The fix worked perfectly :) Thanks

I also had an issue with the System Summary page. All
items were displayed with a grey "?" image next to them
and the spyware definitions were set to "00/00/0000" as
the revision date. This was resolved with the same fix
you provided.

This one traces back to a post by Donald Johnson who recommended applying a
Service Pack for the VB6 runtime as a fix for this set of symptoms.

That fix worked, but Microsoft, via Steve Dodson, recommended the simpler
replacement fix which you've just used.

I don't know what Donald Johnson does in "real life"--I tend to suspect that
he is probably not the average end user who posts here--but this chain
illustrates the value of this kind of peer support mechanism at its best.
