Sheila

We just got a new computer.
We have windows xp and ms office / word 2003.

We have 5 user names on the front opening screen of
windows xp.

we went into one user name: eddie:
we opened up start, programs, ms office:
there we saw ms word, ms excel. etc..
we clicked on and dragged ms word over to the desktop to
create a shortcut icon.

now here's the problem:
Ms word has disappeard from the start/programs / ms
office menu? how do we put it back?

and two: the icon is only for the 1st name eddie. it
doesn't show on the other 4 user names when we log off
the Eddie user and log on another name? and we can't copy
and paste it from eddie to the other names, nothing
happens.

question 2: how can we get the shortcut icon to appear on
the other user names also.

queston 3: what is the name / path of the start up file
for ms word 2003.

please email me at : (e-mail address removed) with the answers.
thank you very mucy.

Windows XP allows different users to have their own screen layouts, so
if you want to have one particular program shown on everyones desktop,
copy the icon for that program to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users

You will need to copy the shortcut from Eddie's user's desktop folder to
the Programs folder for All Users.

Start Windows Explorer. Go to C:\Document and Settings\Eddie\Desktop.
Copy the shortcut that is in that folder for Word. Go to the folder
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs and paste the
shortcut you just copied into this folder.

What happened is when Eddie moved the shortcut to his desktop, instead
of copying he moved it and thus removed the shortcut from All Users.

I believe the default install path is c:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office.
