My setupx.dll file has disappeared or has been corrupted. I do not have the
software to re-install the program. Is there another way of retreiving this
file again?

How to restore the operating system to a previous state in Windows XP

Carey,

Thank you for your input. I went to the mentioned site and tried to restore
my computer to an earlier date, however, it went through all the motions and
then told me that nothing had changed. It won't let me go back any earlier
than 8-31-04. I am so frustrated!

Why do you need to go back farther than 8-31-04?
Just restore back to before you had the problem.

It appears that your Restore Points have become corrupted.
What exactly is the issue concerning setupx.dll?
Are you getting some error message on boot up or some other time?
If so, what is the EXACT error message?

I searched for setupx.dll on my own (clean install) XP Pro installation:
Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 : Service Pack 2)

I did not find setupx.dll

What version of XP are you running?
Click on Start button - then Run - type in "winver" (without quotes) and
press Enter.
Did you do an upgrade from Windows 98 or Windows ME or did your computer
come with XP pre-installed?

Dear XPUSER:

I have the exact same version that you have, along with the service pack 2.
My computer came with Windows XP Proffessional already loaded. I am getting
the following error message when I click on desktop files "cannot find
setupx.dll." When I signed for AOL, I could not set it up because of not
having that file. I tried the setup wizard, and it came back incomplete
because of the missing setup file.
