I have 256K memory, but my computer and AOL only
recognizes my computer as having 224K RAM. I reinstalled
windows XP, but still no change in the recognition from
aol or on my computer profile. Also, I don't know what to
highlight in the profile mngr thing that lets me examine
my hardware (RAM) (they have things like BUS, devices,
etc. Nothing says RAM). I took out the memory chip and
put it back in thinking maybe it wasn't in properly. Help
me, please. I am a non-computer savy woman. Thanks in
advance.

Risa,

It's not that the memory is missing or bad. More than llikely you have an
integrated video card and it is using 32 MB of your physical RAM.

If you know how to get into your BIOS or watch it go through a full boot
you'll probably see that your computer recognizing 256MB. Windows and AOL
don't see it because 32MB is reserved for video functions.

Mark.
