My search program has missing files and the backup
is missing. The xp cd say wrong version but its the
only one I have an it is legal.
How do you reinstall the missing programs and not
loose any data until it can be backed up?
I have the second disk microsoft sent as a update
and the problem started then.

J., does this question have anything to do with Microsoft Access, the
database program within Office? What "search program" are you using?
What files are "missing"?

Its in windows XP. I wanted to backup my computer
and could not find back up, then I went to XP search to
to find backup and win Xp search had missing files and
would not work.
I had a virus that could have caused this but my
hard drive is getting old and I need to back up
the data before it crashes.
The virus protection was set to delete infected files.
It happened when a family member was using and the
virus was not caught for 48 hrs or so.

Repost your question on a Windows XP newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general, then. This newsgroup is for the
database program Microsoft Access(TM), not for general Windows
questions.

If files have been deleted, and they're not in the Recycle, then they
are either gone for good, or can be recovered only with a disk salvage
service. Prepare to spend upwards of $750 for the latter.
