Missing printer icon

I have installed a HP Deskjet 5650 printer but the icon does not appear. Has anyone met this problem please?
 
Thanks Mary and anyone else who has tried to help. I have now resolved the problem. There was a fault in the connector of the cable that joined the printer and computer. I have bought a new cable and the fault has disappeared
