missing online indicator

i've recently reinstalled windows XP ahd i have found that the little
indicator that you are on line that sit in the botton right hand corner of
the screen is missing. (two little TV screens ) how can i reinstate it as
this is the only way i know that i'm still online

try this .. right click on the task bar, select properties, on the taskbar
tab - select customise - find your internet icon & select an option from the
dropdown menu.

Go to control panel, network connections, local area connections,
properties, and check the show icon in notification area when connected.
