Missing My Computer/My Documents locations virus maybe?

Recently, whenever I click on these desktop icons it just takes me to
a blank blue page. It also happened when I went via the start menu.
I decided to repair my XP version, and because my disk was SP1 it took
me back in time. It did however fix the problem. However I have
since updated to SP2 via the net and it has happend again! Any ideas
what I could try next.

Is this a virus?
 
Rightclick the desktop, and then Properties, Desktop tab.
Uncheck all Desktop Icon items, and OK.
Go back and recheck, and OK

wouldn't your suggestion just fix the DESKTOP, vs LOCATIONS of Docs and
Computer?
