missing messages in data file

I am missing saved messages from my .pst that receives all my messages.
Everything, even the subfolders I made are gone. These were recent messages
from the last 10days. I can still receive new messages so it's not the
server (pop3 account). So what happened to the old messages? I have checked
the data file, it's there and will only recover archived messages from last
year, nothing recent. Very bizarre., since the only thing I deleted were
documents that had to be downloaded into temp folder. That shouldn't have
affected Outlook. I need all those missing messages for work. If they are
not in the data file and I still get new messages saved into the data file,
where could they be and how do I recover them?

Make sure you have no other PST on your hard drive. When you search, be
sure to include hidden files and folders.

help!! The only other data file I have is the Archives and I checked there
for my messages but they are not there either. I just don't get it. How
could all those messages disappear even the ones I put into subfolders not
just the inbox? And why can I still receive and see my messages in the data
file that the old messages disappeared from. I have the autoarchive set to
prompt me and every 6 months. So why did those messages disappear, only
being about 8-9 days old?

My crystal ball says that you're not using the same PST; that somehow you
created a new PST and began using that. However, I have no way of verifying
what you did because I wasn't watching. Outlook simply does NOT delete data
on its own.
