Missing Folder in Tree on the Left

Hello:
Some of the Folders i.e. Contacts, Journal, etc are missing from the Tree in
the left pane. When I creat a new folder, I see the missing folders in the
Create Folder dialog in the bottom window where you specifiy where you want
the new folder to appear. The folder is created but does not show up in the
tree on the left if it is anything other than a mail folder.
Please help.

do you see them if you press ctrl+6? that puts you in folder view -
currently you are probably using the mail navigation pane (ctrl+1).
