Hello,

I have a Windows XP Pro SP2 client that is part of a Windows 2003 domain.
Due to an LCD screen damage on a notebook I had to take the hard drive &
installed it on another identical notebook for my user to use. Now he is
claiming he is missing files from C:\My Documents. I can't imagine why he
would be missing files since all I did is take the hard drive and install it
in another notebook.
Any ideas of known KB's, etc?
Thank you.

This is not a known issue. It is far likelier that the end user is
mistaken. However, check the backups. If your users are responsible for
their own backups on laptops, then oh well.

Have you/he searched the hard drive for any of the files he claims are
"missing"?
If the documents are\were in his My Documents folder, the most logical
initial assumption would be that he got a new or different profile?
Is there any redirection going on for his My Documents folder?

I just checked it myself and it is indeed a user mistake. He had the view
set to 'Details' so he just needed to scroll down. Thanks anyway.

Heh heh. Bless their fuzzy little hearts. Glad you got it sorted.
