missing file

when I load messenger I get an error
message "windows\system32\shdock.dll\navcan......" cannot
be found.

Can i reinstall this file?

You might have a missing Windows system file. And yes,
you can reinstall it. Make sure you have your Windows XP
CD handy.

Go Start > Run > sfc /scannow

This worked for me so hopefully it will work for you.
