Missing Export Wizard

Hi:

Each year before March 31, I prepare a text file for the IRS reporting
center that has specific formatting rules. In the past I have been able to
"export" the data from an Access query to a text editor by completing an
"export wizard" that was part of the Access export procedure.

No such wizard appears this year! Instead, I have the choice of formats:
Windows, Ms-Dos, two different Unicode versions, and (I think) ANSI. None of
these choices export the data properly formatted. I believe in each instance
the file is opened as a tab delimited table rather than a "fixed field width"
table (which is what I need.) Extra blank spaces are added between fields and
at the moment, I don't know what to do. The same thing happens on three
different computers, two with Access 2002 and one with Access 2003.

If you can help me get my Export Wizard back, I'd appreciate it very much.

Thanks,
Gus

Are you sure they installed 'advanced wizards'. I believe they are not
installed by default.

Thanks for the suggestion. I reinstalled Access 2003 with "Typical Wizards"
and "Advanced Wizards", but no improvement. I appreciate your attention to my
request.
Sincerely,
Gus

Just to make sure were talking about same thing...

You open query and show results

you click on File/Export in top menu

in dialog, you select in "Save As Type" dropdown

Text Files (*.txt, *.csv, *.tab, *.asc)

which starts a wizard where you can choose fixed field, etc.

That's right, except that it should read "which SHOULD start a wizard where
you can choose fixed field, etc." Trouble is, that wizard no longer starts.
Thanks for looking and if you have any more ideas, I'm all ears!

Close all Access programs.

1) try to find these 3 files on hard drive:

Acwzmain.mde
Acwztool.mde
and
Acwzlib.mde

{probably in

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\

if Access XP}

Do they exist?

2) If so, then start 2 Window Searches

in one, search for Regsvr32.exe

in second, search for accwiz.dll

Drag-and-drop accwiz.dll onto Regsvr32.exe

You should get a message that reg successful.

Does it work properly now?

If not, you might try unregistering the dll,
then reregister.

3) some KB's
