missing exe file

XP boots up ok up to the log on screen but after selecting any log in xp
hangs for about 30 sec's & gives error message 'missing
c:\windows\system32\tools\defolders.exe. I can't locate this file anywhere,
how can I fix this?

I think you need to locate virus and spyware removal software.

Defolders.exe is not a Windows XP file and it produces no hits on the
internet search engines...all of which mean it's most likely part of a virus
or spyware.
