Missing Dynamic Link Library File

Hello,

On start up, my Win 2000 pc is telling me that the file STI.dll cannot be
found in specified location which is C:/system or something like that. Sorry
for not being more specific. I recently uninstalled a program that worked
with my scanner and reinstalled it. While uninstalling it, I gave the ok to
delete shared files thinking that they would be reinstalled along with
everything else. I am not sure what all of the files removed where but the
two incidents seem related. Any suggestions as to how to replace this missing
file since reinstalling the mentioned software hasn't fixed the problem?

Thanks

I am not certain if this is a great fix but this is what you could do. The
sti.dll file is the Still Image Client Dll.

Here is what you can do
1. Put your original Windows 2000 CD into the cdrom drive (say e:)
2. Start a command shell
3. Type e: (Or whatever your CDRom drive letter is)
4. Type cd i386
5. Type dir sti.dl_ (This should show one entry)
6. Type expand -r sti.dl_ %WINDIR%\system32\sti.dll

This should put the file in the WINDOWS\System32 folder. Now you could have
deleted more system files so repeat this process until all the files you
deleted have been put back (hopefully into the right location)

After all the files are on you may want to put your latest service pack back
on the machine
