Dr Zoidberg

We have here a forest containing the main windows 2000 domain which is in
native mode (call it company1.co.uk)
We also have a second domain in the forest which has a single windows server
2003 domain controller (this one is company2.local)

When the second domain was added a couple of months back everything was fine
, and if you went to My network places - entire network - microsoft windows
network you could see both domains.

This was working fine in both directions.

Now I've noticed that when a PC is logged onto the first domain it can't see
the second domain in "Microsoft windows network" but if you look in the
directory then the whole domain is there as it should be.

Any suggestions?

If I remember correctly, the computer browser uses netbios to list the
available computers. If you have a router or something else between the
domains without having a wins server then that could be the cause. You can
use nbtstat to troubleshoot netbios.

Thanks , I'll give that a thorough going over today and see if I can find
the problem.
