Missing database

I cannot connect to my database in Frontpage even though it is listed in the
subdirectory. I have copied in down from the server (where it works OK) but
no joy. I cannot ADD either or create a new database. This is quite baffling

You can only test a database connection in a server based web
- not a disc based web

I should have been more clear. I cannot add a Database Results Wizard
component either. My database name does not appear in the Web Settings nor
in the field when you want to choose an existing database. There does not
appear to be any reference that the database exists anywhere.
