Missing database

Network database is gone. ldb is there, but mdb is gone.
User says she did not delete it. Search for database gets
zero results. It is not in the recycle bin. Is there a
known virus that will do this or is it more probable that
a user deleted it (accidently I hope)? Was able to
recover from backup. This is the second time a database
disappeared so I am concerned.

Weird. Normally you can not delete an MDB while it is open. But if you
wait for it to close, Access deletes the LDB. So the only apparent
explanation for your situation, is that someone *killed* the MDB (eg.
by Ctrl-Alt-Del'ing the process, or rebooting the PC) and *then*
deleted it. So perhaps, see if any users are killing processes for
some reason.
