I seem to be missing the "Performance and Maintenance" element in
Control Panel. (WinXP, SP2, all patches) Can someone tell me how to
recover it?

Thanks.

You probably have the Control Panel in 'Classic View',switch to
'Category view' on the left.

I had it in "icon" view. Changed it to "Detail view". There IS no
"category view" apparent. Any other ideas please? Thank you.

John, you are in "classic view". If you don't see a "catagory view" link on
the left pane, it may be because the left pane is disabled. The
"Performance and Maintenance" is a category in "category view" and refers to
the following sections that shoujld be listed in your view:

Adminstrative Tools
Power Options
Scheduled Tasks
System

And that category also has direct links to other elements like visual
effects settings, hard disk cleanup, and a few others that can be accessed
through various ways.

Thanks. That makes sense. I guess I wasn't missing anything after all.
