Mirror Sites for Vista Beta 2?

C

Chupacabra

Anyone know of any usable mirror sites to download Beta 2? Microsoft's site
is obviously being hammered, but somebody must have a copy of the .ISO on a
mirror somewhere...

I've registered and gotten my Key number, so all I'm missing is the .ISO
file.

Thanks!

Well, recommendations are using torrents that HAVE THE SAME MD5 as the
actual ones. Thanks to Andre for these - check option 3.

If they're not the same MD5, then don't use them. If you can't find one,
just order the physical media.

haven't found any links out there for and ftp or http
if you use the akamai DLM you shoudl still be able to get it at work
http://download.windowsvista.com/preview/beta2/en/x86/download.htm
even if the file fails it will still keep what you have saved, i know it
errors alot but if you are on a fast connection it shouldn't be so bad :)
just keep and eye on it and restart it if there is an issue

I've tried that URL for the last two days, and it always says "We are
currently experiencing a high level of demand and cannot process your
request at this time."

Is that Akami DLM available somewhere else? I've Googled for it and can't
find anything about it. I've tried every other DLM I can get my hands on
(most of them have a 2GB limitation as well), but am getting nowhere.

Thanks!

Just keep on trying - I have just gotten into the page now for the first
time in 2 days.

I finally got past the first hoop, now I've got a screen describing the
download manager, and a set of links for using the Akamai manager or your
own manager. However, no matter which one I try I still get:

"We are currently experiencing a high level of demand and cannot process
your request at this time."

On the next screen.

Oh well, maybe I can get it over the weekend...

The best thing i found. I was running Gentoo at the time and Windows xp
wasnt installed on my other drive. I used wget -c <link from ms for own
download manager>
It WILL resume, and often takes about like 4 times to complete. Im using
the Vista B2 right now. I love it. lol.

Try using Opera. It has a built-in download manager. If you can get
back to that page in Opera, try using the link for downloading using
"your own download manager," NOT the links for Akami. It worked for me
on the FIRST try after failing to get anywhere with IE7 or Firefox after
at least 300 tries.
The download is FAST, too. I'm getting it at a consistent 360KBs which
is my ISP's cap speed.

I've tried Wget on Windows as well, but it only gets very small chunks at a
time and gives up. I can tell it to not give up, but I estimated the
throughput would take 37 days at that speed...

Cool, I'll try it out.

There are NO legitimate sites outside of Microsoft.
Further, no one will guarantee the quality or that the unauthorized sites
are distributing the ISO free of any deliberate corruption.

This is one of the few times where patience can be important especially if
testing or evaluating with any level of reliability is important..

Well... as long as the MD5 checksum's are OK... it should be alright...
right?
