Minimised applications disappear from status bar

Can anyone resolve my problem please? When I minimise an
application, it looks like the desktop icons refresh and
the application just disappears. I have to restart the
app. to get it back. If I restart the machine, all is OK
for a while until I minimise again. Anyone else
suffering???

What does a scan with a current antivirus program (meaning a version not
later than 2002 and using updated virus definitions) show? This can be
symptomatic of virus infection.
