Mini dump or dump.exe

Can anyone tell me what this mini dump file or dump.exe files are and are
they necessary to run Windows XP Professionl? I have a game that I have used
occasionally and all of a sudden it is in a dump.exe file. Cannot run the
game just get a black screen. Can anyone help?
 
You can run Dumpchk.exe to confirm that the memory dump was written
correctly,try search at microsoft,type:315271 The info is explained.
