My screen turned milky white for no known reason. "Task Mgr" showed all
active programs "not responding." I was able to "End Task" them OK. However,
the computer would not shut down in the normal manner, even from the "Task
Mgr." I received no "serious error " message as I did twice in the past with
a "black screen" crash. What brought on the "white" screen? Thanks. CGS

Sounds like a hardware failure. Without seeing the machine, I can't
really guess. It could be that your machine is overheating, the monitor
is failing, the video card is failing, or other things. I suggest you
take the machine to a good local computer repair shop (not a BestBuy or
CompUSA type of store) and have them check it out. Faulty hardware will
not heal itself.
