Migrating WinXP Information into Vista

Howdy all,

This is my first post here so be gentle. I currently use Windows XP
Professional, I am going to be upgrading to Windows Vista Ultimate soon & was
wondering if I could import all my account settings (Outlook account,
Documents & Settings) into Windows Vista?

If so would I have to install Vista side by side as a dual boot with WinXP,
then import the settings from WinXP into Vista? After successfully doing the
migration, how could I safely delete the WinXP Partition & merge it into one
single partition?

Thanks in advance.

I used a data transfer cord I bought at Best Buy especially for XP to Vista,
worked beautifully!

You could use the windows file easy transfer on the Vista disc to copy your
settings, emails etc to another computer or a blank disk. If you record to
a blank disc you create what is called a migration file. When you install
Vista, load the disc and run the migration file. With a bit of luck and a
fair fart it will load up all your settings for you.

I'm usýng WinXP Home and I'm wondering why this question should have to be
asked... Don't I just insert the WinVi upgrade disk, click on something,
wait, and when it's all over I'll have Vista with all my existing apps and
data still in place?
