Migrating Outlook 2003 data to new Win XP install

Hello,

I have had to install a new hard drive (HD) on my laptop and had to
reinstall Outllook 2003 (Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 5.1.2600
Service Pack 3 Build 2600) along with the Windows install.

I want to import or migrate all my recent emails (including saved email
folder structure, etc.) / contacts / calendar items to Outlook.

I have the Outlook.pst from my old HD available.

I'd like to know how to do this without creating a duplicate personal folder
structure.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Will the import the article refers to do this without creating a duplicate
set of personal folders?

When I start to import the old info into Outlook, I see another "personal
folders" branch being added to the file tree. I have not completed the
process because I did not want two parallel sets of folders in Outlook (I
have had this problem with other re-installs in the past).

NEVER import a PST. There's no need and the article I cited does NOT
recommend you use import. Read the article again. Also, keep in mind you
should never overwrite one PST with another.

One method the article does NOT mention is to use the Mail applet in Control
Panel completely, without opening Outlook. Instead of using File>Open in
Outlook, just add the old PST to your mail profile in the Mail applet and
make it your delivery location. Remove any other PST the mail profile
contains (if the PST doesn't have anything in it that you want). Start
Outlook and you'll be right back to where you were originally.
