I'm a long time Linux/UNIX user, but I'm having to migrate to Windows XP
because some applications just will not run under VMware fast enough for
what I need, so I have no choice.

My question is how should I setup my day-to-day account? I'm assuming it's a
VERY bad idea to run as an Administrator all the time, so should I just
throw myself into the "Power Users" group, or "Users", or make another one
and setup something custom? Also, what's the equivlent of su from cmd?

I'm running Windows XP Professional, by the way.

In XP you start off as a Computer Administrator, this isn't actually full
Admin but more like a Power User. You have to boot up slightly differently
to log on as Systems Admin. The level of access you give yourself is
entirely up to you at the end of the day.

As for the SU equivalent, not being a Linux user what is it?

You can login as sys admin w/o having to boot up differently. Just hit
Ctrl+Alt+Del at the login screen and you'll get taken to a real login
prompt.

As far as su, it allows you to go into another user's shell. Is there a way
to do this from "cmd"?
