Chris

Hi

Our server know is NT 4.0 SP6 server but I want to change
all the server machine so I bough a new machine and I
install Win 2000 server but know how can I put the new
machine as backup domain controller (BDC), I don't have
this option in Win 2000 server

I tried Active Directory and I choose: Additional domain
controller and after I add my username and password and
the domain I have this message:

The domaine "OurComp" is not an active Directory domain,
or an Active Directory domain controller for the domain
could not be contacted

Any help please

You might want to take some time and research Win 2k and AD. You will have
to make some decisions during the install that if wrong, may require a
format and reinstall to recover from.

Either upgrade,
See:
How To: Upgrade Windows NT Server 4.0 to Windows 2000 Server

Or migrate

See:

Each has it's pros and cons depending on what you want the final outcome to
be.

You can not add a Win 2k DC to your domain this way. You have to either
upgrade the NT 4.0 PDC or set up the 2 domains side by side and migrate user
from one domain to the other.
