i would have thought that this is done all the time, according to the

Yes, we are currently in teh migration process. We are migrating form
Netware 5.0 to Windows2000.

gotta ask - what's the business reasoning behind it? how cost-effective
is it? how much money did you save by changing? what do you
realistically (not marketing) gain by changing?

i'm very interested in companies that do this.

Well, there was no need to run NOS's. We can provide file and print and
application servers via Windows 2000. We are still using E-Directory as we
are still using Zen though the plan is to move Zen to AD once Novell enables
it to run on any LDAP directory . The goal is to simplify the environment
and lower the TCO.
On a personal note. I am a CNE as well as an MCSE. I've rolled out both
Windows and Netware evironments.

Interesting that when a viable and superior solution is offered, the
meesage is deleted.

Another way M$ is stifling competition, eh?

Pathetic.

I am facing the inenviable task of migrating a client site from NetWare 5.0
to Windows Server 2003 SBS. The majority of client machines are WIndows 98
with a few machines being XP Home edition which will be upgraded to XP Pro
prior to the migration. Does it get any better than this? I am just looking
for some helpful advice as to what to watch out for and any known gotchas. I
appreciate any help anyone can give
