Midi files will not play

A

Aftermath

Using Windows 98 SE and Outlook Express 6.0, midi files attached to an
e-mail will not play. Am able to play .wav files and audio CDs. When
attempting to play a midi file either on or off-line, an error message is
displayed which says, "C-Media Audio Card is not available". Any suggestion
for remedying this situation would be appreciated.

Do you have a midi player you prefer to use, and is it installed properly? A
possible fix would be to download the file then go to that location. Hold
down the shift key and right click on the saved midi file. From the popup,
click on the selection "open with". From the next popup, click on the exe
file for your midi player and check "always open with". In ten future,
clicking on any midi file should open your player of choice.

At least that's the way I would handle it.
