Microsoft Word

I have a new Dell INspiron 1721 with Vista and Office 2007. Many times when
I try to start MS Word I get the message "Microsoft Word is stopping", then
another message that says it is trying to discover the problem and that
Microsoft will send a solution....then I never get a solution. Basically
there are many times that I can't open MS Word from the windows button or by
trying to open a word document? Any help out there?

A solution for the problem you have reported may not (yet) exist. That is
pretty common. If one is provided in the future, Windows will notify you.
You can check the status of problem reports and solutions in Control Panel >
System and Maintenance > Problem Reports and Solutions.

There are separate newsgroups set up for the Microsoft Office product line,
I suggest you post your question in either Word Application Errors or Office

Until you can sort that out, you might want to try OpenOffice.org - it's
free and highly compatible with MS Office.

Add-ins have been causing a lot of these problems.
Click on the office button in word (upper left hand corner), then at the
bottom of the dialogue that opens, chose, word options...then on the
left of the dialogue that opens chose add-ins and at the bottom where it
says Manage: COM Add-ins click on Go and the dialogue with all of your
3rd party add-ins will be listed. You can take out the check mark from
each one to possibly discover the problem. We were having this problem
and removed all of the check marks and have never had any problems with
Office 7 since.
