Microsoft Word Outlook attachments open in book view

All of the Word attachements I get in outlook open in word as 'book view.' I
want them to open in 'normal view.' Can anyone tell me how do I fix this???

You're asking a Word question. You did not specify your version.
If I can read your mind correctly, in Word, look at Tools > Options >
General
Uncheck the option to Allow starting in Reading Layout
