When I try to open up a Microsoft Word file using
MS windows XP Home Edition ,. it says
"preparing to install Microsoft Word 2000",

then says
"trying to configure . . insert Microsoft Word 2000 disk
and click OK",

then says
"Error 1706, cannot install, cannot find product
Microsoft Word 2000"

Please help!

Now, I must open up all my Word docs using Wordpad or
Notepad. .. instead of Word! And I hate that!

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried un-installing and re-installing Word? That may take care of
the problem.

LOL, JAX

Did you install Word prior to try opening a Word document?
Word doesn't come with any version of Windows... It comes
with Microsoft Office.

Insert any Works disk that may have come with the product. Works does contin
Word - sometimes!
