Microsoft Word 97 Upgrade

I purchased Word 97 Upgrade on disk and loaded on my
Compac 2 years ago. My system crashed. I discarded
crashed computer and purchased new computer system which
came with Microsoft Works . I am trying to load Word 97
onto new computer but it will not load because it cannot
recognize an old word processor to upgrade to.
Someone please tell me what to do. Thanks.

If you still have the old word processor installation disk that you use when
you upgraded on the old computer, show it that when asked for proof. You
don't have to install it, just put it in the drive. Or--if you have Windows
XP on the new computer, you can buy a Student teacher version of Office 2003
cheap for personal use.
