Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer.msi

Richard

I just upgraded to XP and am using IE 6.02. I attempted
to open a pdf with Adobe 6.0 and am taken to Microsoft
Windows Journal Viewer window, which attempts to begin an
install.

The next display is the message "The feature you are
attempting to use is on a network resource that is
unavailable...". I browse, looking for Microsoft Windows
Journal Viewer.msi, which what the installation seems to
want. Can't find it.

Question: where do I find the MWJV.msi package? What do
I do next? (I realize that is two questions, but you get
the idea.

Thanks, Richard

Start>Windows Update. It also sounds like like you have a
few bugs, so as to what to do next...backup.

I checked, the only updates I don't have are for movie
maker and a modem (driver) update. All else is current.

If I start Adobe Reader (which I upgraded to 6.0.1), I
get the same thing as originally reported. Clicking
cancel several times gets rid of the MWJV.msi message,
then Adobe reads a pdf just fine.

Any other ideas? Thanks, Richard

Redefine the file type, you can accomplish this by going to

Tools > Folder Options > Tab File Types

Delete the .pdf file type.

Close the file types dialog.

Open a PDF file and reassign Acrobat Reader 6.0 as the program to open the file.
